Depression Resources
My intent behind these resource posts is to not bore you with details around the symptoms or whether or not you ‘have’ x,y,z. You have already looked that stuff up.
Let’s talk about it, and how depression IMPACTS our life. How some days it is so much easier to stay curled up in bed, rather than shower. How eating can seem almost impossible; let alone getting dressed and being social.
But here is the paradox. Once you actually do the ‘thing’, you FEEL so much better. It is the space between thinking about what you ‘should’ do and actually DOing it, that is the most absolute hellish space to BE. It is when we find ourselves in this hellish space, where we cannot wait for motivation to kick in. It will never happen. We have to move, DESPITE what our brain and thoughts are telling us.
It is in this hellish space where we dig deep, into ourselves and just do the damn thing. Because when we DO, it is here where we experience the GLIMMER of our potential. The light cracks though that inky darkness. It is faint, it may be hard to see, but it is FELT. THIS is where healing happens. It is small, but it is SO mighty; and the following day or maybe even an hour later when another task beckons us, we can draw upon our success the previous hour or day or whatever, REMINDING us that we CAN overpower our thoughts and eventually, we can gather momentum to begin to DO it more often. This is how our self esteem and self worth gets rebuilt. For it is in the smallest of baby steps where we find our greatness.
